Make Intention

Wear Ihram

Before you start your journey it's necessary to wear Ihram after making an intention and reading certain duas. Wearing Ihram is mandatory and your Umrah wouldn’t be complete without wearing it. Make sure that you are following all the rules of Ihram. For men is necessary to wear white clothes and keep the right shoulder bare. While women don’t have to follow any restrictions, however, it's necessary to cover their whole body except their face and hands. Don’t wear tight clothes and abayas and keep your dressing simple and modest. After wearing Ihram, you are not allowed to cut nails or hair, also avoid using perfumes or any scented things, and refrain from covering your face. Start Doing Tawaf

After wearing the Ihram, you have to do Tawaf (circles around Kaaba). Every pilgrim has to do seven Tawaf anticlockwise around Kaaba. During your Tawaf recite different duas and keep a counter with you, to remember how many Tawaf are completed. You must recite prayers for yourself and your loved ones as it’s the most precious time and you connect strongly with the Almighty. Tawaf starts from black stone and ends here too, green lights are attached on the top to help pilgrims. Kiss the black stone from a distance and start your Tawaf.

After completing Tawaf, pilgrims have to pray nawafil in front of Maqam e Ibrahimi. Mostly there is a lot of rush so pray at some distance but Maqam e Ibrahimi should be in front of you. It is better to choose Umrah packages in the off-season, so you don’t have to face a rush of people.

Sa’i

After Tawaf and nawafil drink Zamzam water to the fullest and move towards Sa’i area. It's better to ask anyone for guidance in the Sa’i area instead of getting lost. This task was assigned to Muslims in commemoration of Hazrat Hajra. You have to walk between Safa and Marwah hills seven times. Men have to run in between the green lights while women have to walk. This task shows us the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and how he left His wife and son in the valley just for the sake of Allah.

Sa’i strengthens our belief and motivates us to believe in Allah’s mercy and blessings. Read as many duas as you can during Sa’i. after completing two circles from Safa to Marwah and Marwah to Safa, stop at Safa Hill, face the Kaaba, and recite your duas.

Shaving Head

When you book Umrah packages keep scissors or trimmers in your luggage bag, as they’ll be helpful after Sa’i. It's not obligatory to shave your head, however, it’s the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. So men should shave their head and women have to cut at least 2 inches of hair. After this act, your Umrah is complete and you are free from all the restrictions of Umrah.
